Keynote Speaker

connie willis imageConnie Willis

Science fiction standout Connie Willis will give you the straight skinny on writing and the writer's life, and offer suggestions to make the whole process a little less painful, from ideas on craft to tips on how to find time to write. Don't miss her keynote address: "Are You Sure It's Supposed to Be This Hard?" The Blood, Sweat, and Tears of Good Writing.

"Bookstores and libraries are full of books giving you 'Five Easy Steps to Writing a Bestselling Novel' and telling you how to 'Write Your Book in 15 Days,' when the truth is there's nothing easy about it," says Willis. "Good writing is just plain hard work."

Connie Willis is among the most decorated of American Science Fiction writers. She received the John W. Campbell Award for her first novel, Lincoln’s Dreams, in 1987 and has since been awarded 10 Hugo Awards, 11 Locus Poll Awards and 6 Nebula Awards for her short stories, novellas and novels. In 2009, she was inducted into the Science Fiction Hall of Fame. A Colorado native and graduate of the University of Northern Colorado (formerly, Colorado State College), Ms. Willis makes her home in Greeley. The first half of her latest novel, Blackout, was released in February, 2010. The second half, All Clear, is scheduled for publication in the fall of 2010.
